This site is designed to learn as little about you as possible. There are no user accounts and no cookies set by the site itself.
Your test observations
- Spot marks on the screen map live in the page’s memory and disappear when you close or reload the tab — they are never uploaded anywhere.
- If you tick “Keep my notes on this device”, marks are stored in your own browser’s local storage (key
dpt-screen-map-v1). They stay on your device and can be cleared at any time with the “Clear all spots” button or your browser settings. - Text and PNG summaries are generated locally in your browser when you press download. Nothing is sent to a server to create them.
Appearance preference
If you pick Light or Dark in the theme selector, that choice is stored in your browser’s local storage (key dpt-theme) so it survives reloads. Until you choose, the site follows your operating system and stores nothing. If storage is unavailable, your choice simply applies until you leave the page.
Hosting logs
The files of this site are served by a hosting provider, which — like virtually all web hosts — may keep routine server logs (for example requested URLs, timestamps and IP addresses) for security and operations. Those logs belong to the hosting environment, not to this site’s own code, and are outside what these pages control.
Analytics
This site measures basic visits with Google Analytics 4 (provider: Google LLC), loaded on every page. It records which pages are viewed, plus the browser, device type and approximate region that Google derives from each visit. It never receives your test observations, spot marks, notes, theme choice or summary contents — those stay in your browser and are not sent as analytics events. Google stores the measured data under its own policies. You can opt out with Google’s analytics opt-out browser add-on or any tracker-blocking browser setting; the test itself works the same either way.
